“We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul…”
Hebrews Chapter 6 Verse 19
The Object of the Brigade shall be the advancement of Christ’s Kingdom among Boys, and the promotion of habits of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline, Self-Respect, and all that tends towards a true Christian Manliness.
The 1st Killead Boys’ Brigade Company was formed in February 1962 by Mr Brian Swann, now Honorary Captain. The Company has approximately 50 boys and young men enrolled and a team of very dedicated leaders who meet each Wednesday evening. A varied and interesting programme of activities is on offer to all boys, which also includes outings and competitions.
The Company has had many competition successes in its recent history, both at Battalion and NI District level. Over the years, many boys have come to Christ as a result of the teaching and examples provided by the leaders.

In 2010 we celebrated our 40th Anniversary. The Company has at present 62 members and 12 leaders. The girls are divided into four sections: Explorers, Juniors, Seniors & Brigaders. Girls can start GB provided they are 3 years old at 1st July.
A set programme under headings of Spiritual, Education, Service and Physical to include activities such as scripture, craft, games, drill, dance etc is organised for all sections. The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme is offered to girls from 14 years upwards. Outings, competitions and special events take place throughout the year.
